Gamma Shock & Vibration Isolator
The CBG SNB shock and vibration isolator is designed specifically for our MWD gamma tools to protect the scintillator crystal and photomultiplier tube from excessive drilling conditions. With higher ROP’s common in modern horizontal drilling operations and the drive to exploit harder and hotter rock formations, the survival of gamma probes has become a priority.
The SNB has been designed to more effectively minimize the shock and vibration that is transmitted through the MWD tool string to the gamma tool. It has less than ¼ the spring rate and more than four times the range of relative motion compared to similar devices. It includes a unique high-temperature rubber compound that provides built in damping so that shocks are quickly attenuated.
